In this tutorial I will explain step by step how to properly add subtitles in Kodi. This tutorial is only for KODI Isengard or above.
Before starting the tutorial, please, download the OpenSubtitles add-on and then create an account on the official website of the OpenSubtitles (required).
After registration and installation, your login data must be entered in the addon settings. It's the only way to get access to subtitles.
How to Add Subtitles on Kodi
Follow these steps carefully.
1 – Select System.
2 – Select Add-ons.
3 – Select Install from zip file >> service.subtitles.opensubtitles-*.*.*.zip.
4 – After installation, you will get a message in the bottom right corner stating that the Add-on is Enabled. Go back to Home screen.
5 – Select System.
6 – Select Video.
7 – Select Subtitles >> Languages to download subtitles for. This option serves essentially to choose the languages you want to download during playback of content. You can choose more than one language.
As you can see the default language is English. If you are a English user, skip to step 9.
8 – Select your language and confirm the change in OK.
For users from other countries, before making the change, don't forget to uncheck the English language! (optional)
9 – In the same option “Subtitles“, below, select Default TV show service.
10 – Select OpenSubtitles.org.
11 – Select Default movie service.
12 – Reselect OpenSubtitles.org.
13 – As you can see in the image the OpenSubtitles addon was added successfully.
14 – Then, choose an addon of movies or series that you have installed on your Kodi. The following example is to Exodus addon.
When you open a movie or serie, in the right corner click on the icon marked with the red circle and then select Download.
15 – Finally, you only have to choose one of the many available subtitles. As you can see is much easier than it sounds!
16 – If you choose a subtitle that is not synchronized with the movie or series, you can always choose to download another or adjust subtitles timing manually, through the option “Subtitle offset“.
